FIRE STATION SUPPORTS LOCAL FIRST RESPONDERS TEAM
Fan's
of the late 70's band "The Jam" were treated to a live
show by local Retford tribute act "Setting Sons" last
month, as part of a fund raising evening held by Misterton Fire
Station.
The
organisers, Firefighter Sammy Beevers and local businessman Wayne
Howe, both self confessed Jam fans, were extremely happy when tickets
for the event sold out within days of them going on sale.
The
charity evening, which was very well supported, was held at Newells
Sports Social Club in Misterton and raised £550. With £400
of this being donated to the local Five Villages First Responder
team towards a portable GPS navigation system, which will enable
them to find addresses much more quickly when they are called to
medical emergencies within the local area.
The
remaining funds raised were donated to the Notts & Lincs Air
Ambulance fund.
The
organisers would like to thank everyone who helped with the event,
especially Setting Sons, Smoking Joes Mobile Disco and Pendulum
Records of Retford.
Sammy and Wayne are already busy organising another event to take
place possibly in May.
Martyn
Johnson the First Responders group co-ordinator said: "We'd
like to say a big thank you to Sammy, Wayne and everyone else who
made the event possible and to all those who attended. The added
aid of a GPS system to assist us with finding locations at the touch
of a button will undoubtedly mean we can get to the scene of the
calls which we are despatched to by the Ambulance Service more promptly,
which will benefit the patients we are called to help."
